R. I. Reds 13th Annual Reunion Slated for August 2-4

Providence, RI (5/3/2013): The 725-member R. I. Reds Heritage Society has announced it will hold its 13th Annual Reunion Weekend, Friday, August 2, through Sunday, August 4.

As in the past, the Sunday reunion event will be held at the historic Carousel Building at Goddard State Park in Warwick, RI, starting at noon.

Highlight of the weekend, as always, will be Sunday’s reunion (August 4) at Goddard State Park, open to the public at $35 per person. The event will include an all-you-can eat cookout and introduction of all returning players. Special awards also will be presented. Honors will be given to the 2013-14 “Tops Award” winners and the 4th annual “R. I. Native–born Hockey Achievement Award” recipient.

“Typically, we sell out our capacity of 300 tickets for the event,” reports Bill O’Connor, chairman of the reunion every year since it began in 2000. “To date, we have already sold 100 tickets – our best advanced sale ever in early May.” He added that the deadline for making reservations will be July 15.

The society’s reunion weekend will begin Friday (August 2) with a meet and greet reception at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Warwick. Thirty ex-Reds and other former pro players are expected to attend. Once again, the society’s “Host a Hockey Hero” fund-raiser will provide all out-of state-players and ex-Reds living in Rhode Island with three complimentary hotel nights.

Saturday evening (August 3) the players and their families will be treated to a dinner-dance at the 12 Acres banquet facility in Smithfield. A limited number of 60 tickets will be available to the public at a cost of $35 per person.
